Swan has a rich history when it comes to innovation for household electricals. In fact, back in the 1930s they were the original pioneers of the immersible electric element which changed the way households have been making their brews ever since.

The Challenge

Nearly a century after their landmark invention, Swan asked us to help with the launch of the first ever ‘Works with Alexa’ Kettle. Armed with little more than a prototype and CAD model of the kettle, we began designing a campaign to bring the product to life.

Our Approach

First-up, a series of teasers were leaked to generate intrigue via Swan’s social media, using the campaign message “Turn on the Swan”.

By combining Swan’s brand style with Alexa-inspired styling, we delivered a pack that was befitting of such a technologically advanced kettle.

Slick lifestyle photography in a modern, high-tech kitchen gave the kettle the ideal stage to show off its smart credentials. Videography captured in the same location kept the visual consistent and demonstrated the kettle’s usability in a straight-forward fashion.

This being more complex than a conventional kettle, it required detailed instructions for setting up and making the most of the kettle. We solved this by producing of a number of product set-up videos, featuring animated sequences and illustrations, alongside a multi-lingual instruction manual.

For launch, we designed a dedicated landing page for the Swan website for all traffic from press releases and social media to be directed to.
